Today is 1st Hampden Mural Day. The 11th March will always be remembered in the folklore of the Football's Square Mile history pages:
On this day in 1882, Scotland strode out onto the fabled 1st Hampden Park grass and recorded an era-defining victory over England by 5 goals to 1.
On this day in 2017, after losing the location of the 1st Hampden for over 134 years, the envelope was opened with the railway map revealing 'Football Ground' on the site of the current Hampden Bowling Club. This proved the boolers tale, who always said they were on top of the original ground.
And in 2019, this date was permanently stamped on the back of the Hampden Bowling Club pavilion, telling the whole world that this was indeed the site of 1st Hampden. This 100ft mural told the Scotch Professor story.
Therefore it is fitting that today we put the machinery that created and celebrated all of this, and so much more, into the FSM Hall of Fame. The Hampden Collection is prorogued today, after thousands of hours of poetry, events, posts, videos, history lessons, and ceiling smashing fun. It has achieved its mission to promote the 3 Hampden Parks, and all who played on them, and will now be merged under one Football's Square Mile Brolly.

We would like to thank everyone involved and look forward to the new look FSM Applecart. Here is Julie McNeill, Head of The Hampden Collection signing off.

The story of the 3 Hampden Parks is now cemented in the soul and will not be lost again. Job done.
Thanks
